Since the Academy Awards is considered the biggest night in film, unforgettable celebrity beauty looks on the show’s red carpet are pretty much a given. The 2023 Oscars were no different, calling for Hollywood’s biggest to wear hair and makeup looks of cinematic proportions. Our favourite Hollywood actors, presenters and hosts walked on the red carpet – by the way, this year, the traditional carpet changed to “champagne”, and they all looked amazing!

The Oscars 2023 was a feast for our eyes, as the stars brought all the glamour and elegance to the carpet. We could see the very best of fashion and plenty of incredible trends, which emerged from it. Music and social stars put all their effort to look effortlessly gorgeous on the carpet alongside A-listers like Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, and Cate Blanchett.

Bold colours and extravagant gowns paired with luxurious jewellery seemed to be trendy this year among all the stars. Of course, most of us are extra excited about all the hair, makeup, and nail moments spotted during the ceremony. They are sure to be showstoppers. A few examples: Rihanna’s bold red lips and Lady Gaga’s ‘80s-inspired cat-eye makeup look were award-worthy, must-see looks from the night.

Here, we’ve rounded up the seven best beauty moments from the Academy Awards – on stars like Lady Gaga, Florence Pugh, Jessica Chastain, and more.

CARA DELEVINGNE

For the model’s first-ever Oscars, Cara teamed up with celebrity hairstylist and SexyHair ambassador Danielle Priano. “We wanted to channel true movie star energy, so we opted for a classic side part into a bun to show off Cara’s amazing features,” Priano said. “The best part about this hairstyle is it’s perfect for any occasion. Running to the grocery store? Pull your hair back into a bun to keep your hair out of your face. Have a red-carpet event? Pull your hair back in a bun for an elegant and timeless look. We’re seeing slicked-back buns everywhere right now, because they are such a versatile look.”

JESSICA CHASTAIN

Jessica Chastain channelled Old Hollywood glamour on the 2023 Oscars red carpet with her look and siren-red Charlotte Tilbury lips.

WINNIE HARLOW

A classic beauty look never fails to make an impact on the red carpet. Case in point: Winnie’s cat eye nails. Her popular nail design featured a shimmery finish that resembled the eye of a cat. Harlow’s makeup was by Adam Burrell using Violette_FR and Tweezerman, and her hair was by Davontae’ Washington using Kiss and Balmain Hair Couture products.

RIHANNA

Rihanna wore the biggest trend of the night: red lipstick. She looked stunning on the “champagne” carpet as she wore a creamy, satin red lipstick (by Fenty Beauty, of course) with red nails and a loose top knot. “We wanted to create a monochromatic makeup look with a maple-red lip and highlight, punctuated by strong black eyeliner, to echo the structure of Rihanna’s gown,” Priscilla Ono, the celebrity makeup artist behind the look said.

LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga looked so amazing on the red carpet, wearing an incredible all-black Versace gown. To complement her look, she also wore a stunning ‘80s-inspired smokey eyes makeup look, using products from her iconic beauty brand Haus Lab. Her hair look done by hairstylist Frederic Aspiras was also stunning.

SOFIA CARSON

Sofia Carson brought the “Princess” vibes to the carpet as she wore a sleek French roll chignon and equally bold brows and a cat-eye eyeliner. She had her classic makeup done by makeup artist Karan Mitchell using Valentino Beauty products.

FLORENCE PUGH

With a gown this vibrant, beauty needs to take a more subtle approach. What we love about this Florence Pugh look is that her “ponytail into bangs” paired perfectly with her Valentino Couture gown. Her glowy makeup was painted on by Alex Babsky using Valentino Beauty products, and her nails were by Dawn Sterling.
