Awards season has been in full swing up to now, all leading up to Sunday’s 95th Annual Academy Awards, which had an impressive guest list and surprising reveals of the show’s big wins. It was a night to be remembered. The ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and thus far, there has certainly been no shortage of glitz and glamour for the close of awards season. This year, the red carpet had a different detail on this “runway” of styles, which is the most important one in Hollywood. The iconic red carpet is now gold, or rather: champagne.
Hollywood’s biggest stars, nominees, presenters and the rest of the movie glitterati turned out for the evening, and the red carpet did not disappoint. The A-list guests wore their finest for the ceremony, playing the park of woke Hollywood stars with their ensemble’s choices. Fabulous gowns, trains, high-octane ball gowns aplenty, show-stopping sequins dress galore, and plenty of black, white, and bold colours appeared to be this year’s big style trend. Florence Pugh rocked black shorts with a dramatic cape, looking like a punk princess, while popstar Rihanna, who was nominated for the original song for “Lift Me Up,” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, arrived at the Oscars wearing an all-black Alaia look, which left us speechless. RIHANNA
Pop superstar singer Rihanna, who was nominated in the awards’ best original song category, turned heads at the 2023 Annual Academy Awards. For the occasion, she wore a leather bra and maxi skirt combo by designer label, Alaia, bringing bold maternity style to the Oscars. The outfit worn over a sheer turtleneck bodysuit featured a dramatic train and slashed cut-outs at each hip. She completed the look with Giuseppe Zanotti heels enormous brown diamond drop earrings and a bold cocktail ring from Moussaieff.
ANA DE ARMAS
Ana de Armas, who was nominated best actress, wowed at the 2023 Oscars red carpet, wearing a shimmering silver mermaid gown by luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. Her dress resembled one of Hollywood icon Marilyn’s most iconic on-screen looks from the 1957 classic The Prince And The Showgirl. The dress also featured a low-cut u-shaped neckline and had jewelled embellishments all over it. It also featured a long train which resembled flower petals. She accessorised the look with platinum bracelets, dangling earrings, and a ring.
NICOLE KIDMAN
Nicole Kidman arrived at the 95th Annual Academy Awards, looking extremely gorgeous. She had the honour of presenting an award at the ceremony. She also had five Oscars nominations to her name for 2022’s Being in the Ricardos and one win for her 2003 performance in The Hours. She was definitely a total showstopper in this elegant black sequins-covered gown.
CARA DELEVINGNE
Cara Delevingne looked incredibly gorgeous on the 2023 Oscars red carpet. For the occasion, she wore a rosy, red satin gown by Elie Saab, reviving Angelina Jolie’s viral leg pose at the Oscars. Her dress featured a cinched bodice with a massive bow-tied accent on its shoulder. She finished the look with Serpenti serpent-shaped diamond post earrings, rings, a wrapped collar necklace a winding bangle by Bulgari. She also wore platform sandals by Stuart Weitzman.
LADY GAGA
The “Joker: Folie à Deux” actress left everyone’s jaws on the floor when she showed up in this sheer, drop-waist gown from Versace. Her dress also included mesh along her bodice and down the sleeves. The gown had an all-black skirt that puffed out at the bottom and included Versace’s signature Medusa medallion at the waist, matching the larger choker.
FLORENCE PUGH
Florence Pugh went for a gorgeous and traditional dress black shorts and gown by Valentino Couture. She completed her look with Tiffany jewellery, including two Soleste rings, platinum earrings with pink tourmalines and diamonds, and a matching necklace. She also wore black platform sandals.
JESSICA CHASTAIN
The “Eyes of Tammy Faye” star proved she’s just as stunning in real life, wearing a stunning floor-length lavender gown by Gucci. She paired the look with statement earrings, a number of rings, and a shimmering makeup look.
