While designers tried to think creatively about how to showcase their collections during the past two seasons, some of them relied on lookbook format and others tried video. Although many have decided to continue on this new path, the Spring/Summer 2022 season came up with in-face fashion shows which is giving a breath of fresh air in the fashion industry.
During last Spring/Summer 2021 menswear, collections aimed to showcase pieces that helped show freedom and hope, with colourful pieces, eclectic suits, voluminous (couture), joggers and comfort-focused extra-wides pieces. In 2022, most fashion brands and designers around the world are showing new styles as a way to encounter the pandemic we’ve been living so far.
Men’s Spring/Summer 2022 fashion is all about the comeback of vibrant colours or neutral ones. Designs are specially created to reconnect with the social life we’ve been missing for the past two years: jumpsuits, vibrant colours and party boy looks. Moreover, creative designers are introducing pieces that are traditionally feminine into the heart of the male wardrobes, such as crop-tops, cutouts, or heels.

JUMPSUITS
Fashion brands Sacai and Ermenegildo Zegna propose once again the jumpsuits. They are making a big comeback this season, and we almost forgot about it. Most of the time jumpsuits are inspired by the workwear outfit, but this time the jumpsuit goes from the oversized utilitarian style to the regressive short version.
BLACK AND WHITE
Black and White are truly making a comeback, thanks to Dior and Saint Laurent and nothing could be more elegant. Simplicity can be expected in this colour palette, but more daring wearers can bring black-and-white to new levels with a little experimentation.
SHOWING SKIN
Hermès and Stefan Cooke propose transparent pieces for the Spring/Summer 2022 collections, between the lace details, sheer fabrics, and bold indiscretion of the pieces.
BRIGHT COLOURS
Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton come up with a mixture of vivid colours and patterns in their designs, from pastel to fluorescent. For those who aren’t ready to push their limits yet, there’s still the option to incorporate a pop of colour in an otherwise neutral outfit.
EASY SUITING
The urban formal suit is always in fashion, but this season the suit takes on an even more relaxed style. This does not detract from its elegance; the slouchy suit is less rigorous, more elastic, and comfortable without sacrificing style. It is a celebration of unstructured suits, which does not abandon the silhouette overall.
CUT OUTS
For this season, Fendi and Rick Owens unveiled their men’s collections and dare us to wear less. One of the fashion statements of summer 202 was indeed the cutout pieces.
Between scissor cuts, holes, indentations, and straps, a new concept of masculinity is being brought forth by designers this season.
DUST COATS
