Jacquemus presents a nuptial show in the Camargue for its Fall-Winter 2022-2023 collection.
Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus presented an enchanting Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 collection. After Hawaii earlier this year, the show took place in a lunar landscape between the pink lakes of Salin-de-Giraud and the dazzling white salt desert mountains of Camargue. Poetic as ever, the collection entitled “Le Papier” addresses the chromatic fundamentals and the desire to revive the original codes of the house that have become the signature of the Provence-born designer.
“The last collections were very Pop,” wrote designer Simon Porte Jacquemus in a recent Instagram story, “now I’m back to something more poetic.”
The collection celebrated the shared affinity that encapsulated those of another world, the vast marshlands of Girauld in France, chosen with a desire to highlight places with extraordinary simplicity, a minimal decor whose natural poetry is briefly interrupted by Jacquemus’ creative narrative.
When the show began, the silhouettes emerged from a great distance and walked in a long and sublime procession, displaying exquisite and pure looks in a sober palette composed mainly of bright white, off-white, warm brown and deep black colours.
The designs featured tulle veils and modern tails that billowed like an angelic bride in the wind. From then on, models continued to present crisp white dresses with sheer materials, khaki and sand pants, brown and cream tailoring, and blue plaid garments.
The designer said, “I started working on the collection with the obsession of starting from nothing, like a blank page.” With 61 looks, these pages were soon filled and the collections presented were a great success.
The collection featured pure white pieces that paid homage to Simon Porte Jacquemus’ childhood. Travelling back in time, the designer transported us to the main colours and fabrics of Provence, to a bygone era, to memories of his grandmother Liline and his shared nostalgic passion for things of the past.
Also, the styles of the guests played a leading role. From friends, stylists and renowned buyers, to well-known personalities from the fashion world such as Camille Charrière, Victoria Beckham and Georgina Rodriguez. A luxury front row that only reaffirmed the undoubted rise that Simon Jacquemus has achieved in just five years.
The theme of the Le Papier exhibition on French paper was white. The chalk paint used by designers was not just a trend, it had a broader meaning, associated with the concept of a blank sheet of paper, symbolizing a new life that can be written and dyed.
