The pop star shared all the details in her personal newsletter, On the Jlo.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finally tied the knot on Saturday on July 16th. The actress and singer shared the details of the ceremony in Las Vegas and expressed they wanted to have a “simple and small” ceremony in a Las Vegas chapel.
Jlo also revealed that their big day turned out to be “exactly” as they’d wanted it as she shared a bunch of the behind-the-scenes details in her exclusive on her latest newsletter.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out that love is patient. Twenty years of patience,” Lopez wrote.
“Last night we flew to Las Vegas, stood in line for the license with four other couples, all making the same trip to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us, two men were holding hands and hugging. In front of us, a young couple who made the three-hour trip from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday; we all wanted the same thing: for the world to recognize us as partners and declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.” Expressed the singer.
In the exclusive photos, Lopez wore two different dresses, one of which she describes as “a dress from an old movie.” The traditional sleeveless white dress featured a high neckline, a fitted waist and an elegant diamond pattern throughout. The Marry Me actress also appeared to switch to a strapless dress with long lace sleeves for part of the evening.
The love story between singer Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck began in the early 2000s, when they met during the filming of Gigli. Since they confirmed their relationship, both starred in some of the most romantic moments, leaving in their wake iconic photographs of their relationship in that decade.
By November 2002, the two were engaged, but postponed their wedding in September 2003 citing “excessive media attention” surrounding their wedding.
They never made it down the aisle and officially called off their engagement in January 2004.
Almost twenty years later, the couple revived the hope of love the day Jlo made official her relationship, for the second time with Ben Affleck, on July 24, 2021. The proof was a photograph she published where she posed with the film producer, the same date on which the interpreter celebrated her 52nd birthday, aboard a yacht.
From then on, in different red carpet events and in their endless strolls hand in hand around the city of L.A., both have been happy and inseparable.
In 2021, they began a new relationship, and they did it so intensely that in 2022 they got engaged again. The protagonists themselves told how Affleck proposed to JLo at home while she was taking a bath: “He caught me totally off guard and I looked into his eyes smiling and crying at the same time, trying to get my head around the idea that, after 20 years, this was happening again, I was literally speechless and he said: “Is it a yes? I told him yes, of course it’s a YES,” Jlo wrote.
