Making its mark on Paris Fashion Week Menswear, Dior revealed its Fall/Winter 2022 collection, unveiling an effortlessly fresh take on the workwear aesthetic.

Dior Homme took to the runway with a line of embellished men looks, offering a romantic take on tailoring for one of the most important shows of Paris fashion week.
Inside the temporary venue, the models walked a replica of the ornate Pont Alexandre bridge in grey Birkenstocks and sequined derbies, showcasing designs crafted by Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones.
“I wanted to look at the archive, the purity of the house’s beginnings, its original impulse,” said Jones, who dedicated the show to fashion journalist André Leon Talley.
Drawing inspiration from the silhouettes of the 75-year-old LVMH-owned brand’s early collections, the designer modified the house’s famously feminine bar jacket and offered a men’s version.
He brightened the lineup’s muted palette of grey, beige and ivory tones with embroidered lily-of-the-valley flower patterns and shimmering sequin patches, applying them to sweaters and sleek quilted jackets.

After several years of wartime, the “New Look” marked a return to glamour in the fashion world and shot Monsieur Dior and his eponymous house to international fame. Kim Jones also used leopard, specifically the leopard bomber, which harkens back to the house’s origins. Starting in 1947, Dior featured the timeless pattern in nearly all of its collections. Accessories were also examples of Dior’s backup pattern and history seen throughout the show.
While celebrating Dior’s past, Kim Jones also looked to current trends and, he tried to design each look featuring a pair of oversized trousers paired with long or baggy button-ups and sweatshirts.
These garments show our current love for oversized clothing and layering. The shoes were particularly referential to our modern-day tastes, with models stomping down the runway in either rubber or boiled wool Birkenstock-Esque clogs or chic sneakers.
In simply words, Dior’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection was a celebration of the Paris of yesterday and today, as well as the house’s significant place within its history. Moreover, Kim Jones also ensured that the founder’s legacy lives on by putting a contemporary spin on some of Monsieur Dior’s most beloved looks.
