Marriott Bonvoy ushers in a new era of Caribbean luxury with the debut of reimagined resort collection.

Barbados is making waves in the world of luxury hospitality. A sweeping $150 million renovation has brought new life to seven of the island’s most iconic beachfront resorts—formerly known as Elegant Hotels. Now relaunched under Marriott Bonvoy’s most prestigious banners—Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio, and The Luxury Collection—the properties are ushering in a bold new chapter of Caribbean elegance.
At the heart of this transformation is Waves Hotel & Spa, now part of the Autograph Collection and officially Barbados’ first all-inclusive, wellness-focused boutique resort. Perched above one of Saint James’ most pristine beaches, Waves embraces a refined nautical aesthetic inspired by the island’s maritime heritage. Blue tones, rich woods, and woven textures create a space that feels both contemporary and unmistakably Caribbean.

Waves isn’t just about looks—it’s about lifestyle. Each of its 70 rooms and suites has been redesigned with wellness and relaxation in mind, offering either ocean or garden views. Guests are treated to up to four complimentary spa treatments per stay, with access to yoga sessions, fitness classes, and a full-service wellness spa that emphasizes rejuvenation through massage, body scrubs, and holistic therapies.

Culinary offerings have also been elevated. Seascape, the resort’s Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, delivers stunning oceanfront dining and theme nights that spotlight Barbadian flavors. The new Shiso, located in the poolside building, adds an exotic flair with Asian-fusion cuisine, expertly crafted sushi, and inventive five-spice ice cream.
Across the Platinum Coast, more reimagined resorts are making their debut.

The iconic Treasure Beach returns as the Treasure Beach Art Hotel, a 35-room adults-only property celebrating Barbadian creativity. With vivid colors, local art, and a relaxed boutique vibe, it offers an immersive cultural escape. The hotel aims to connect guests with the island’s artisans through curated experiences in an environment where art meets leisure.

Nearby, The House reopens as a barefoot-luxury sanctuary, also under the Autograph Collection. Designed for couples, this intimate hideaway blends natural materials with island craftsmanship, delivering understated elegance in a space devoted to quiet romance.

This is just the beginning. The transformation continues with upcoming relaunches of Tamarind as an Autograph Collection property, and both Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach re-emerging under Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio by 2026. Each resort will reflect its own unique identity, while contributing to a collective vision of modern Barbadian boutique luxury.

But perhaps the most anticipated chapter in this story is still to come: the legendary Colony Club, set to reopen as part of The Luxury Collection. Once complete, Barbados will officially join the ranks of other global luxury destinations like Venice, Athens, and Beverly Hills—elevating its profile on the world stage of high-end hospitality.

From spa sanctuaries to art-infused escapes, Marriott’s reinvention of Barbados’ iconic beachfront resorts marks a remarkable new era for the island—where luxury is deeply rooted in place, culture, and connection.
