A reflection of the “Versace Man” with a statement to make.
Gearing up for Milan Men’s Fashion Week, Versace showed its latest reflection of the “Versace Man”. Versace Men’s Spring-Summer 2023 confidently walks the line between unexpected juxtapositions (fun and formal, bold and sensitive, baroque and pop) that fully reflect a Versace Man who has mastered the statement he wants to make.
A new generation of Versace Men is represented on the runway, fully capturing the youthful openness, optimism and energy of the collection.
“What I love about this new generation is that they like to dare. You can tell they are curious,” Versace said during a preview at the brand’s elegant Milan headquarters.
Models walked the runway carrying vases and urns, or sported miniature teacup ornaments and saucer earrings, an obvious nod to Versace Home at the recently concluded Salone del Mobile 2022, giving the vintage-themed collection an unconventional undertone.
“When I work, I think about Generation Z and the freedom they have by not being afraid to mix contrasting pieces. Pop-art meets classicism: this kind of contrast is everything to me, it makes you think and feel.” expressed Donatella Versace.
The collection featured oversized silhouettes, which gave a sense of freedom, and close-fitting blouses have unmistakable Versace charm. Versace’s signature diamond cuts through pants captured a sense of purposeful disruption, while precise cut-out details on fitted blouses enhanced the masculine physique. Python-print leather was an alternative to exotic skins, and leather-look styles made with eco-sustainable latex confirm Versace’s continued steps toward preserving the planet.
Revitalized graphic prints in pop colours appear on shirts and T-shirts, creating new icons from Versace’s visual signatures.
Moreover, the collection played with bright colours, two-tone and neon pinstriped suits, metallic jackets and orange, blue and off-white combining for overall cool quality.
The Medusa Hobo Repeat, an archival Versace hobo bag presented in a new reissue, featured an XL size that wraps around the shoulder. Shoes, handbags and accessories included metallic formal shoes, diamond cutout tote bags and printed python leather styles.
“This is a Versace world”, “We have a home collection. We have a lot of different things,” Donatella Versace said with a shrug.
