World of Wanderlust: Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Atlantis The Palm, is the crown jewel of Dubai’s world-famous Palm Island, nestled between the serene turquoise seas of the Arabian Gulf and the spectacular Dubai cityscape.

Dubai’s most iconic resort: Atlantis The Palm.

Atlantis The Palm Dubai is a premium hotel and resort on the tip of Palm Jumeirah in the United Arab Emirates. It was the first resort built on the island styled on the tale of Atlantis with unique Arabian characteristics. Kerzner International Holdings Limited and Istithmar World collaborated to open the resort on September 24, 2008.

Built thanks to the collaborative efforts of a distinguished group of internationally renowned architects, designers, and landscape architects, Atlantis The Palm presents a unique vision of the late Sol Kerzner, the previous chairman of Kerzner International.

This innovative project debuted in September 2008 and redefined the Dubai resort experience, featuring the creative skills of Adam D. Tihany of Tihany Creative, David Rockwell of The Rockwell Group, and Jeffrey Beers of Jeffrey Beers International (JBI). The design approach used the skills of renowned interior resort designers Wilson & Associates, Wimberly, Allison, Tong, and Goo (WATG), and the creative landscape architecture of EDSA. Additionally, the resort has pieces of art by renowned painters Dale Chihuly and Albino Gonzalez.

A grand corridor leads to the Wilson and Associates-designed entryway, which welcomes tourists to The Royal Towers at Atlantis. Each hotel and apartment offer stunning views of the turquoise Arabian Sea or The Palm’s peaceful waterways. The resort’s 1,544 rooms and suites have just undergone substantial renovations, giving them a stunningly fresh appearance and feel. Ocean and Palm Beach rooms (45 square meters) are available, as are several bigger suites lavishly outfitted with walk-in closets, dressing spaces, and jacuzzi spas. The interiors have a beautifully subtle modern décor of earth tones, with brilliant bursts of colour bringing the ocean within. Bathrooms featuring marble flooring, granite vanities, rain showers, and twin sinks.

The Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark.

The Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark, Dubai’s largest waterpark and the centre of attention on The Palm Jumeirah has appeared on popular international television shows, including “The Amazing Race.” This extreme theme park spans 148 acres and has more than 100 rides and watersports opportunities spread across three towers. It is famous for its record-breaking “Leap of Faith” at Neptune Tower, where riders plunge nearly 60 feet (9 stories) vertically down a slide that passes through a terrifying shark tank. Odyssey of Terror, the highest waterslide in the world, and Blackout, the biggest vertical drop slide in the Middle East, are two must-try new attractions.

Designers Jeffrey Beers, David Rockwell, Adam D. Tihany, and Wilson and Associates, internationally recognised for constructing gorgeous dining venues to showcase some of the world’s most celebrated cuisines, have each introduced their unique flair and design to the Arabian food scene. Jeffrey Beers’ particular aesthetic can be found throughout Atlantis, where he collaborated with Italian Chef Giorgio Locatelli to develop Ronda Locatelli and Gordon Ramsay to design Bread Street Kitchen & Bar. Beers combined the beauty of the Italian countryside with the modernism of Dubai to create a rustic but dynamic atmosphere for Ronda Locatelli. Upon entering, guests are greeted with a relaxing water pond paired with a custom-built fireplace, while a central stone-clad building housing four pizza ovens and grounds the open area.

The aptly titled Neptune Underwater Suite and Poseidon Underwater Suite both cover 165 square metres and span three stories, with magnificent decor by Wilson & Associates. From the entryway, a soaring staircase leads to the enormous living and dining areas, which overlook The Ambassador Lagoon and are complemented by a butler’s pantry.

All the Atlantis and Palm Rooms and Suites have a new design! The ocean-inspired rooms and suites, combined with their signature features and services, promise ultimate relaxation.
